This seasoning was inspired by Honey BBQ flavored potato chips. Ingredients consist of smoked paprika, chili powder, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, sage, and thyme. This seasoning is best for chicken, fries, roasted potatoes and or sweet potato fries.

 

Honey BBQ Fried Chicken Tenders

Ingredients Servings: 20  Measurements 

Wet Mix 

Buttermilk 4 ½ C  

Garlic, powder 1 tsp

Onion powder 1 tsp

Cayenne Pepper 1 tsp

Salt 2 tsp 

Dry mix 

All purpose flour 1 ¾  C

Corn Starch ¼  C 

Chef Joy’s Poultry seasoning 1 Tbsp.

Chef Joy’s All Purpose Blend 1 Tbsp. 

Smoked Paprika ½  Tbsp.

Eggs, large 2 ea.

Vegetable oil 4 C

Salt 1 tsp 


Directions 

  1. In a bowl, combine the wet mix with your chicken, ensuring it's fully coated by the marinade. Cover and allow to marinate in the fridge for an absolute minimum of 4 hours, (Max is  24hours). Remove at least 30mins before you intend to use it to bring to room Set up a workstation with 3 shallow bowls (flour, egg, buttermilk marinade).  Combine all of your dry ingredients into a shallow mixing bowl.  

  2. In a heavy bottom pot add vegetable oil. Heat on medium high heat, bring the oil to the temperature of 350℉.

  3.  Whisk egg together in a shallow bowl so the chicken can be dipped into it. 

  4. Take the chicken out of the wet marinade.  Season chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, and salt.   

  5. Dredge chicken in the flour. Making sure to shake the excess flour off. 

  6. Dip chicken in the egg mixture then. Then fully coat the chicken in flour. 

  7. Gently place the battered chicken into the oil. Be sure not to overcrowd the pot with chicken; this will create soggy chicken. Fry the chicken for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165℉.

  8. Once chicken is fully cooked, place them on a cooling rack. Sprinkle Chef Joy’s Honey BBQ Seasoning over the chicken. Being sure to fully coat the chicken. 

  9. Allow the chicken to cool and enjoy.
